It was a moment of history in the WPL (Women's Premier League) as Delhi Capitals roped in a 16-year-old batter in the line-up with Jemimah Rodrigues taking on the Mumbai Indians in a crucial encounter on Tuesday at the Kotambi Stadium in Vadodara. Notably, the sixteen-year-old Cricketer is Deeya Yadav, who was DC's only replacement from the previous match.
Delhi's skipper Rodrigues introduced Deeya as someone who can strike it out of the park at the toss.
“Deeya Yadav comes in. She’s 16, but she can really smash the ball out of the park. That’s all I’ll say," Delhi skipper Jemimah Rodrigues said.
Deeya's service was acquired by former finalists for Rs 10 Lakh. She came into notice when she scored close to 300 runs in the Senior Women’s T20 Trophy in the 2025/26 campaign in her eight innings with a handsome strike-rate.
Mumbai Indians Reach 154 For 5 After 20 Overs
Mumbai Indians' struggles in the powerplay continued before Nat Sciver-Brunt played another blinder to take her team to 154-5 against Delhi Capitals in the Women's Premier League here on Tuesday.
Sciver-Brunt remained unbeaten on 66 not out off 45 balls in a fluent knock, including two sixes and six fours. It was her third fifty-plus score of the season.
With just one win in four games, Delhi Capitals are desperate to turn their campaign around.
