The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is all set to make changes in the domestic circuit for the 2024-25 season as per the recommendations given by Jay Shah to the apex council. The next season will begin with both the red and white ball tournaments- both Syed Mushtaq Ali and Vijay Hazare Trophy will begin after the Duleep Trophy, Irani trophy, and the first five matches of the Ranji trophy.
Besides beginning the domestic season with the red ball tournament, Shah also suggested that the national selectors should announce the squads for the Duleep trophy. It was the sonal election committees, who were the representatives of each state association, hailing from that zone used to announce Duleep trophy squads but now this task will be given to national selectors.
At the same time, all the women’s inter-zonal tournaments, like the ODIs and T20Is, will see teams getting selected by national selectors.

Other remarkable suggestions include the player’s well-being and that there will be enough gaps between four-day matches. India’s star all-rounder Shardul Thakur had raised his voice against the lack of gap between matches and this time the board has paid attention to their demands.
Toss eliminated from CK Nayudu trophy
One suggestion was also made to remove the toss from the U-23 Col CK Nayudu Trophy. The visitors can now either choose to bat or bowl first freely. At the same time, a new point system will also be added to the age-group tournament to ensure balanced performances.
“This includes awarding points for batting and bowling performances in the first innings, in addition to points for the first innings lead or outright win. A review will be conducted at the end of the season to assess the effectiveness of the new points system, with a decision on whether to implement it in the Ranji Trophy for the following season," the proposal said.

If the new points system and no toss suggestion are successful, then there are high chances that this will be applied to other tournaments as well.
Tackling the fog
A lot of matches were interrupted by fog in the 2023-24 season in north India. To overcome such situations, the board has decided not to hold too many matches in these weather conditions.
There are high chance that limited matches will be held in North India in chilly cold winters.
