IND U19 vs USA U19 ICC Under-19 Men’s Cricket World Cup: India's U19 star pacer Henil Patel, who registered match-winning figures against the US in their ICC Under-19 Men’s Cricket World Cup match, said that South Africa's Dale Steyn is his inspiration. Patel rattled the United States’ batting attack as he registered figures of 5/16 and helped the team win the match by six wickets. His brilliant bowling prowess helped the team begin its campaign on a high note.

It should be noted here that Patel's figures were the third-best as an Indian bowler of any edition of this tournament after Kamal Passi (6/23 against Zimbabwe in 2012) and Anukul Roy (5/14 against Papua New Guinea in 2018).

During a conversation with ICC Digital, Patel talked about his admiration for Dale Steyn, especially his aggression. “What I get from Dale Steyn is that I like his aggression a lot. His bowling was so good that no batter could play against him easily because he was so tough to face," Patel was quoted as saying to ICC Digital. Healso talked about the mindset with which he bowled and said, “I have a mindset to get the batter out within three to four deliveries. I go into training with a proper mindset, I get my body ready, and it’s the same in a match. It’s all about taking early wickets. I go with the same mindset, and I stay calm."

The Men in Blue won the toss and chose to bowl first, skittling the USA out for just 107 runs. Nitish Sudini was their highest run-scorer as he had scored 36 runs off 52 balls.

While chasing a revised target of 96, India suffered huge setbacks. Vaibhav Sooryavanshi got out after scoring just two runs, and Vedant Trivedi also scored as many runs. Ritvik Appidi took their wickets. Skipper Ayush Mhatre got out after scoring 19 runs and left them reeling at 25/3.

Vihaan Malhotra and Abhigyan Kundu helped the team bounce back by stitching a partnership of 45 runs. Malhotra got out after scoring 18 runs, but Kundu held the innings from one end. Along with Kanishk Chouhan, they made sure that they didn't lose any more wickets. They won the match in 17.2 overs.

Kundu scored an unbeaten knock of 42 runs off 41 balls in which he had hit five fours and a six, as Chouhan remained unbeaten on 10. Ritvik Appidi shone brightly for the USA as he registered figures of 2/24.
