World Cup 2023: Australia captain Pat Cummins mentioned the raw emotions as he said that they are pretty excited about playing the World Cup 2023 final against hosts India in front of a jam-packed Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Australia reached their record-eight World Cup final after outclassing South Africa by three wickets in the second semi-final at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Thursday.

Notably, the hosts India already had made it to the summit clash after beating New Zealand in Mumbai as they still remained the only undefeated side in the tournament.

"Few of us have played in a final before, a couple of other guys in a T20 World Cup final, the stadium, the biggest in the world, is going to be packed, mostly going to be one-sided. But it's about embracing it," Pat Cummins said in the post-match presentation about facing India in the final.

While expressing his surreal feeling, Cummins mentioned how special was the 2015 World Cup win for him as Australia eye to replicate the same against India on Sunday.

"It is going to be pretty special (on the feeling of facing India). 2015 World Cup was one of the highlights of my career, never thought I'd be here playing another World Cup final in India," he added.

Talking about the match, Australia chased down the 213-run target with three wickets in hand and 2.4 overs to spare as they picked up their eighth consecutive win in the tournament.

Despite going through a few hiccups in between the Cummins-led side was brought home by Mitchell Starc and the skipper himself who hit the winning runs.

Travis Head played a magnificent knock of 62 runs in just 48 balls on the back of nine fours and two sixes.

Steve Smith scored crucial 30 runs with Josh Inglis also contributing with his important 28 runs as South Africa once again fell short of making it to their first final.

Earlier, the Proteas opted to bat first and weren't clinical with the bat as they were bowled out for just 212 runs in 49.4 overs.
