IND vs NZ 2nd ODI: World No. 2 ODI batter Daryl Mitchell entered his name in the record books on Wednesday (January 14) by becoming the first New Zealand batter to hit three ODI centuries against India in India. The 34-year-old right-handed batter from Hamilton, who is playing his seventh ODI for the Black Caps against India on Wednesday, needed 96 balls to reach the 100-run mark for the Michael Bracewell-led side in the 285-run chase at Niranjan Shah Stadium in Rajkot.

Mitchell scored his first two ODI centuries against India during the 2023 edition of the ICC Men’s ODI World Cup, which was played entirely in India.

In that tournament, he scored 130 runs from 127 balls during the league match played in Dharamsala on October 22 and 134 runs from 119 balls in the semifinal match played at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on November 15, 2023.

In the list of batters with the most ODI centuries against India in India, Mitchell is now joint-second in the list. Only AB de Villiers of South Africa has scored more hundreds than him against the Men in Blue in ODI matches played in India.
