India vs New Zealand T20 World Cup Final: Ahead of the T20 World Cup summit clash against New Zealand, India skipper Suryakumar Yadav brushed off Kiwi captain Mitchell Santner's comment about silencing the crowd in the final at Narendra Modi Stadium, saying it's a tired line and they should come up with something new.

Santner has set his eyes on silencing the packed Narendra Modi Stadium crowd, echoing similar sentiments made by Australia's Pat Cummins ahead of their ODI World Cup final win against India last year.

"The goal is to silence the crowd. There are a lot of variables in T20 cricket, and it is fickle at times. If we go out about our business the same way, we can upset another big team. There's obviously a lot of pressure on in there (on India) to win this World Cup at home,” Santner said at pre-match press conference.

Suryakumar said the Indian team is basking in the excitement of hosting a World Cup final on home ground, with a positive and upbeat atmosphere in the dressing room.

"It's a special feeling. And everyone is very excited. We have a very good environment in the group. We are looking forward to the big final," Suryakumar said.

Mitchell Santner Explains Pressure Of Playing Against India

Santner emphasised that New Zealand will concentrate on adhering to their processes and not get crushed by the grandeur of the T20 World Cup final.

“There is obviously a lot of pressure on India to win the World Cup at home. If we can go out there and put that added pressure on them, we’ll see what happens. We are pretty consistent because we try not get overawed by the situation or opponents. We just go out there and do our thing," Santner told reporters on Saturday.

"It's going to be an opposite challenge where everyone knows we're probably not the favourites. But we don't mind. We know we can do little things well and put in a strong team performance. It would put us in a pretty good position to hopefully lift the trophy. I wouldn't mind breaking a few hearts to lift the trophy,” Santner added.
