IND vs PAK T20 World Cup 2026: The much-awaited high-octane clash between India and Pakistan of the ongoing mega event, which will be held next week, might actually be played, as the talks between the International Cricket Council and the Pakistan Cricket Board have led to positive results, as per a The Times of India report. According to the report, ICC members Imran Khawaja and Mubashir Usmani had reached Lahore on Sunday.
The reports had earlier revealed that these talks have been going on after the Pakistan government revealed that they will be boycotting the clash against India.
The global body enquired from Pakistan about how they will be invoking ‘Force Majeure’, which will justify their refusal to play the match against India, as the PCB has put the responsibility on the government.
The statement offered no further explanation or justification for the decision. In response, the sport’s global governing body has asked what steps were taken to break the impasse in line with the Terms of Participation.
Pakistan opted to boycott the match against India in solidarity with Bangladesh, who were replaced by Scotland after declining to travel to India for World Cup games, citing security concerns.
While the Pakistan government cleared the national team to take part in the T20 World Cup, it barred them from facing India, a game that represents the ICC’s biggest commercial draw and a major attraction for its broadcast partners.
The decision prompted Sri Lanka Cricket to write to the PCB, warning that the absence of the February 15 marquee clash between the arch-rivals would lead to significant financial losses for SLC and harm both the organisation and the tournament’s image in the island nation, which is co-hosting the event with India.
Pakistan is all set to play their games in Colombo and Pallekele, starting with their opener against the Netherlands on Saturday, February 7.
