IND vs WI T20 World Cup 2026 Super 8s: India captain Suryakumar Yadav on Saturday had made a promise to his fan that he will give him a ball from India's training session before the upcoming virtual quarterfinal match against the West Indies, which will be held at the Eden Gardens on 1st March, Sunday. Post their match against Zimbabwe at the M.A Chidambaram Stadium earlier this week, the Men in Blue reached Kolkata for their next match.

The Suryakumar Yadav-led side held an intensive practice session just a day before Sunday's match, as they look to maintain their winning streak from their last match against Zimbabwe.

Suryakumar Yadav had walked back towards the dugout when a few Indian fans called out his name and asked him to get them one of the balls being used in the training session. Suryakumar was seen smiling and promised them that he would get them a ball after the session ended, when the team had left the ground.

Since the Indian batters have bounced back to form, issues remain with their bowling lineup as they prepare for the upcoming match against the West Indies in the virtual quarterfinal of the ongoing mega event in Kolkata.

With the West Indies losing to the Aiden Markram-led side and India's comprehensive win against Zimbabwe, the Group 1 Super 8s match has become a virtual knockout and turned into a high-octane contest at the Eden Gardens.

The winner of this match will lock horns with the Harry Brook-led side for the second semifinal, which will be held in Mumbai next week.

The Indian batters made a brilliant comeback against Zimbabwe. By making some changes to the batting lineup and having Sanju Samson return to the playing XI as the opener, the top six batters performed consistently together. In his comeback match, Samson scored just 24 runs but had set the tempo early for a mammoth target and gave the team a flying start.
