Harry Brook and Phil Salt produced a batting masterclass as England thrashed India by nine wickets in the fourth T20I to seal the five-match series 3-0.
The defeat marked a historic low for India, who are the reigning T20 World Cup champions. It was their first-ever T20I series loss against England, with the visitors taking an unassailable lead before the final match.
Six Straight T20I Defeats for India
India’s struggles in the shortest format have continued in recent weeks. Before the England series, Ireland stunned India by winning the two-match T20I series 2-0, registering their first-ever international series victory over the Men in Blue.
As a result, India have now lost six consecutive T20Is for the first time since the format was introduced.
First Back-to-Back T20I Series Loss Since 2019
This is also the first time since 2019 that India have lost successive T20I series.
The last such instance came under Virat Kohli’s captaincy, when India were beaten 2-1 by New Zealand away from home. That was followed by a 2-0 series defeat at home against South Africa.

With the latest defeat, India have joined Pakistan, Bangladesh, New Zealand, West Indies and Afghanistan as Full Member teams to have lost six consecutive T20Is.

It was a disappointing one. 158 wasn't the perfect total on the board. Eventually we saw how quickly they chased it down. When we came onto bowl, I just asked the bowlers to repeat the lengths as much as possible. Top of middle and leg was difficult to score off. We fell short on our execution. Definitely happy with my performance, but if it's not in a winning cause.. This is a transition phase, and we will be making mistakes. Have to realise how important it is to adapt. I'm sure there are quick learners in the team, and they will assess themselves.
