Shreyas Iyer etched his name into the record books after becoming the highest run-scorer for India in a T20I series in England. The Indian captain achieved the milestone with a superb unbeaten 80 against England in the fourth T20I at the County Ground in Bristol on Thursday.
Iyer surpasses Suryakumar Yadav
The knock helped Iyer to complete 190 runs in the ongoing five-match series, surpassing Suryakumar Yadav's previous record of 171 runs, which came in three matches during India's tour of England in 2022.

Apart from this, Iyer is the only Indian captain who managed to score a T20I half-century on English soil. The stylish Mumbai batter smashed two half-centuries in the ongoing five-match T20I series.
Iyer led from the front in the fourth T20I
With India needing a win to stay alive in the series, Iyer led from the front with a composed innings of 80 from 49 balls. He struck four boundaries and five sixes, anchoring the innings as wickets continued to fall at the other end.
Batting on another lively surface, Iyer showed patience early before shifting gears when the opportunity came. He shared a valuable 53-run partnership with Shivam Dube, helping India recover after a difficult start.

The India captain produced his best attacking strokeplay in the 18th over, taking on leg-spinner Adil Rashid with two sixes and a four to collect 20 runs from the over. However, England's bowlers bounced back well in the closing stages, with Sam Curran and Jofra Archer keeping the scoring in check. Archer finished with figures of 2 for 20 and also picked up two wickets in the final over.
India's top order once again struggled against England's pace attack. Jofra Archer dismissed 15-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi for the second straight game, while Josh Tongue removed Ishan Kishan inside the powerplay. Adil Rashid then sent back Abhishek Sharma, leaving India under pressure early in the innings.
