T20 World Cup 2026: Michael Vaughan has stated that England could have won the recently concluded T20 World Cup if Jasprit Bumrah had been part of their team. On his official X account, he wrote, “England would have won the WC if they had Bumrah,” sharing a video from the 'Stick to Cricket' podcast.
He continued on the podcast, saying, “I reckon, if you put Jasprit Bumrah in English cricket, they win it (T20 World Cup). Probably like Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo, this kind of…”
David Lloyd then asked Vaughan during the podcast, “Didn’t you say he’s the best bowler you’ve ever seen?”

Vaughan replied, “Yeah, that I’ve seen.”
He further explained, “And you gotta remember, I started watching cricket, probably from the 85-86, when I really started to study cricket. He’s the best I’ve seen.”
Alastair Cook then shared his perspective: “Is he the best in a match-winning spell in Test match cricket? He’s definitely, without a shadow of doubt, the best all-format bowler. You can safely say that, can’t you? In any form, he is the best all-round bowler.”

Cook continued, “Has he, like a Test match, he’s bowled some spells, and I’m not quite… 8/15 or is he not that kind of bowler?”
Vaughan added his thoughts: “I’ve seen him a bit in Australia produce some spells, and he has been just different.”

Bumrah was instrumental in India's T20 World Cup win, finishing as joint-highest wicket-taker alongside Varun Chakravarthy, each claiming 14 wickets at an average of 12.42 and an economy rate of 6.21. He became the first fast bowler to take four wickets in a knockout match of the tournament, joining Ajantha Mendis and Shadab Khan in a select group with this accomplishment.
Bumrah ranks fifth for most wickets in T20 World Cup history, with 40 wickets in 26 matches at an average of 13.65 and an economy of 5.66. He is also the most successful fast bowler in the tournament, surpassing Lasith Malinga’s record of 38 wickets in 31 matches at 20.07.
Bumrah, a two-time T20 World Cup winner, was named Player of the Tournament in 2024 with 15 wickets in eight matches at an average of 8.26. In the 2026 T20 World Cup, he again finished as the highest wicket-taker and was awarded Player of the Match in the final.
