IND vs NZ T20 World Cup 2026 Final: Indian cricketers are known for their superstitious beliefs. According to a PTI report, ahead of the upcoming T20 World Cup final against New Zealand in Ahmedabad, the Men in Blue decided to switch hotels, hoping a change in surroundings would bring better luck than in previous tournaments.

The Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad has not favored the Suryakumar Yadav-led side. In the 2023 ODI World Cup final against Australia, despite being the favorites, India lost under pressure. In the ongoing T20 World Cup, they played a Super 8s match at the same venue against South Africa, suffering another defeat. Chasing 188 during that match, they were bowled out for just 111 runs.

"In Ahmedabad, the BCCI has changed India's team hotel ahead of the final. While no one will come on record, but it is only fair to mention that during the team's previous couple of stays in the earlier hotel in Ahmedabad, they lost two big matches (2023 ODI WC final and this year's Super 8s against SA)," the report said.

The Indian team has also demonstrated a cautious approach regarding match preparations. For example, they delayed their training session in Mumbai. But why?

The Men in Blue also delayed their practice session by 45 minutes on the day before the semifinal against the Harry Brook-led England side because of the lunar eclipse. This delay reflected a common superstition in India that such times may attract bad luck.

This decision appeared to work in India’s favor, as they defeated England in a nail-biting semifinal. While defending a target of 253 runs, Indian bowlers conceded many runs, and if Jasprit Bumrah hadn’t bowled the last two overs, the outcome might have changed.

Before the semifinal match in Mumbai, India, the team delayed its training session. On the day of the match, head coach Gautam Gambhir attended Sachin Tendulkar’s son’s wedding, and photos of this went viral. Several Indian players, including Arjun Tendulkar’s ex-Mumbai Indians teammates Ishan Kishan, Suryakumar Yadav, Bumrah, and Hardik Pandya, also attended the wedding.
