IND vs T20 World Cup Final 2026: India's star pacer Jasprit Bumrah admitted he was really happy to put the 2023 ODI World Cup final behind him. India won the 2026 T20 World Cup title at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday. The Men in Blue defeated New Zealand by 96 runs in the summit clash. They successfully defended their T20 World Cup title at home.

Bumrah won the Player of the Match award. He helped the team skittle the Kiwis out for just 159 runs while they chased a huge target of 255. Bumrah had match-winning figures of 4/15 in his four overs. He put up his best performance in the shortest format.

“It feels extremely special because I played one final at my home venue and couldn’t win that one. But this one feels really special. I was really motivated and very clear about what I wanted to do. The wicket was quite flat. Since I’ve played all my cricket here, I used all my experience. Today was wonderful—everything I executed went exactly as planned. So yes, I’m really happy and very grateful. God has been really kind,” Bumrah told broadcasters after he was named Player of the Match.

He also revealed that winning the Player of the Match award was very special. This was his second consecutive T20 World Cup title.

“Before this tournament, I was in a phase where I felt I was trying a bit too hard. I was bowling really well, but things weren’t going my way. At one point, I realised I might have been trying too hard. In this format, you have to let the game come to you. I was clear about my preparation, and then it was about reading the situation and believing in myself. That is exactly what I tried to do throughout this tournament. It worked really well for me. My ability to assess my own game has always been one of my strengths,” he said.

“I couldn’t be happier. It couldn’t get any more special than this. Winning the Man of the Match award in a World Cup final at this venue, where I started my cricket, is unforgettable. It really doesn’t get better than this,” he concluded.
