IND vs NZ T20 World Cup 2026 Final: A heated exchange has erupted between former Pakistan cricketer Mohammad Amir and ex-India batter Mohammad Kaif ahead of the IND vs NZ T20 World Cup 2026 Final. Kaif recently suggested that Amir comment on India merely to stay in the news, prompting Amir to assert that he does not need to mention India to remain relevant. This conflict has intensified on social media as the tournament's final approaches.

"I don't know about his cricketing career, how much he has played. I checked his stats; he played only 29 matches in the IPL. He has a strike rate of 103 (103.60). He said I was speaking about India to gain attention. Firstly, I don't need attention by speaking about India. Mr. Kaif, I have played 350 T20s, you can check my stats," Amir was quoted as saying on his YouTube channel.

Amir questioned Kaif's cricketing achievements, asserting that Kaif’s reputation is mostly due to his fielding and that Sourav Ganguly was responsible for his selection for India. Amir emphasized his own career performances in response.

"Moreover, main bas fielding pe cricket nahi khela (I didn't play cricket just because of my fielding). I played after giving performances. Aap Dada ko thank you boliye (You should be thankful to Dada)," he said.

"I have heard that you played cricket only because of your fielding. You are a cricketer; these sorts of statements don't suit you," he added.

The exchange escalated after Amir criticized India's Abhishek Sharma’s form, calling him a "slogger" and "one-dimensional," which further fueled the controversy.

What Did Kaif Say to Amir?

In response to Amir’s criticism, Kaif countered by focusing on Amir’s own T20 World Cup performance, specifically referencing Pakistan's loss to the USA.

"The loss they suffered against the USA in 2024 - it was the same bowler who was responsible. In that over, he conceded only one boundary but bowled too many wides. His deliveries did not even land on the stumps. Who got scared against that USA team and made his side lose the game? I don't have to say more," Kaif said.

"Why are we focusing on him? The country is far behind in the sport with no solid players, captain, or bowler. Just let them be. We don't need to respond to everything they say; giving them attention is what they want," he concluded.
