IND vs NZ: Shubman Gill, who is India's Test and ODI skipper, has finally opened up after getting snubbed from the T20 World Cup team. Gill, who returned to India's T20I team for the Asia Cup 2025, was seen struggling as in 15 T20Is, he couldn't smash a single half-century. Not a single person expected the selectors to drop Gill, but this is what happened.
After playing in 15 T20Is last year, he had scored 219 runs at a poor average of 24.25 and a strike rate of 137.26. His getting back to the T20I team led to Sanju Samson getting dropped from the playing XI, even though he had hit three tons in 2024.
As Gill was seen struggling in this format, the fans slammed his selection on social media.
He was asked about his snub from the mega event, and to this, he didn't say much and just wished the team good luck for this tournament. The Men in Blue have been put in Group A along with teams like the USA, Namibia, Netherlands, and Pakistan, and will lock horns with the USA in their tournament opener at the Wankhede Stadium.
"I respect the selectors' decision and wish the team the best of luck for the T20 World Cup," Gill told reporters in the pre-match press conference.
