IND vs PAK T20 World Cup 2026: The International Cricket Council (ICC) has reportedly held a back-channel talk with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to resolve the issue of Pakistan boycotting the high-octane clash against arch-rival India in Colombo. As per Cricbuzz, these talks also include ‘an honourable face-saver’ to change this harsh stand and also not get slammed too much.
The report also revealed that there's no official sign yet, but there's ‘cautious optimism’ in the cricketing world that the high-octane match might actually happen as per schedule. There's no clarity as to what the solution is and when a breakthrough will be reached.
With just nine days remaining for the clash, this uncertainty has only hurt all the stakeholders- the ICC, PCB, and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). It's not just the teams, but the boards will also suffer crores of losses if the match isn't held.
The skippers of both teams also addressed this issue during the captain's day on Thursday, and that showed how tense the situation is.
“The India game isn’t in our control. It is the government’s and the PCB’s decision, and we respect that. Whatever they are going to say, we will do that. If we have to play them again in the semifinal or final, we will have to go back to them (government and PCB) and act on their advice," Salman Agha told reporters.

“Humne manaa nahi kiya hai khelne. Unhone mana kiya hai. Hamara flights booked hai Colombo ke liye (We haven’t refused to play against Pakistan. They have refused). Pehle hum yahan khelenge, phir Delhi jaayenge, phir wahaan se Colombo jaayenge (First we will play in Mumbai, then head to Delhi, and then travel to Colombo). I feel their decision isn’t in my control," India skipper Suryakumar Yadav said.
