Legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar believes that the Rohit Sharma-led side will lift the ODI World Cup 2023 title and the prayers of the more than billion countrymen will be answered at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday.

India are playing their fourth World Cup title and have lifted the title on two occasions. The only time they lost in the final was against Australia in 2003 while they won the trophy in 1983 and 2011.

Tendulkar, who will be present in the stands to cheer for India, said fans are eagerly waiting for India's third World Cup title.

"I have come here to extend my good wishes. Hopefully, the Indian team will prevail against Australia and lift the World Cup for the third time. The fans have been eagerly awaiting this day and I fervently hope that the prayers of a billion-plus citizens will be answered today," ANI quoted Tendulkar as saying on his arrival at Ahmedabad airport on Sunday.

India will create history if they defeat Australia in the final as they will become the first nation to win the ODI World Cup title twice on their home soil. India defeated Sri Lanka by six wickets at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai to clinch their second accolade in 2011.

India are invincible in the tournament with 10 wins in as many matches. They defeated giant Kiwis by 70 runs in the semifinal to book a final berth.

On the other hand, the Aussies beat South Africa by three wickets at Eden Gardens in Kolkata to set up a summit clash against India. Pat Cummins-led side is on an eight-match winning streak and will look to stop India's winning chariot.
