IND-W vs AUS-W 1ST ODI: India skipper Harmanpreet Kaur had injured her left knee when she was batting against Australia during the first ODI on Tuesday. “Captain Harmanpreet Kaur has not taken the field in the second innings after sustaining an injury to her left knee while batting. The BCCI Medical Team is monitoring her progress. Vice-captain Smriti Mandhana is leading the side in her absence," the statement released by BCCI said.
How Harmanpreet Kaur Got Injured?
Harmanpreet scored a gritty knock of 53 runs off 84 balls, and then Ashleigh Gardner took her wicket. She sustained a knee injury while batting in Megan Schutt's over, but she still showed courage and continued batting.
During the first innings, the hosts' brilliant bowling had piled the pressure on the visitors. India had won the toss and chose to bat first under overcast conditions, but were seen struggling against Australia's new bowlers, who tried to take advantage of the seam and swing the surface produced. Smriti Mandhana bounced back after a shaky start and also stitched a brilliant partnership with Harmanpreet.

The Australian bowlers took wickets at regular intervals and made the Women in Blue reel at 140/6. Kaur and Kashvee Gautam helped the team bounce back by building a partnership of 53 runs, but after Kaur's wicket, the match turned in Australia's favour. Gautam didn't receive any support from the tailenders, and even after a dropped catch, the visitors couldn't do much.
The surface didn't offer bounce or seam movement, and the Australian bowlers skittled India out for just 214 runs.
