DC vs RCB IPL 2026: DC fans breathed a sigh of relief. Their team narrowly avoided recording the lowest total in tournament history. While batting first in Delhi, the hosts were on the verge of setting a humiliating record against Royal Challengers Bengaluru on Monday.

At one stage, the Capitals were reeling at 13 for six, flirting with the lowest IPL total. Hazlewood's dismissal of Nitish Rana left DC tottering at 8 for 6 in 3.5 overs, making 49 seem distant. In 2017 at Eden Gardens, RCB set the record by being bowled out for 49 in 9.4 overs against Kolkata Knight Riders.

The Capitals finally moved past 49 when Kyle Jamieson smashed Romario Shepherd for a six over deep square-leg, bringing DC’s total to 53 for seven in 10.2 overs. With the unwanted record avoided, fans at the venue erupted in loud cheers, and supporters on social media expressed relief that the record remained with RCB and that DC would not top the unwanted list.

HOW RCB DOMINATED DELHI CAPITALS

RCB produced a ruthless bowling display to blow away DC for just 75 in 16.3 overs. Bhuvneshwar Kumar led the attack by bowling debutant Sahil Parakh with a searing inswinging yorker in the opening over. Josh Hazlewood partnered with Kumar, delivering threatening balls that set the tone for the collapse.

From there, the collapse gathered pace rapidly as Hazlewood, with his very first ball, dismissed KL Rahul and, with the next delivery, removed Sameer Rizvi. Hazlewood took both wickets through well-executed deliveries that left DC struggling.

Bhuvneshwar was equally devastating. He picked up three wickets in his opening spell, including Tristan Stubbs and Axar Patel. Delhi crumbled early under pressure. The new-ball pair extracted movement and maintained relentless accuracy. The batters had no room to settle, resulting in the lowest powerplay total in IPL history.

Abishek Porel tried to resist with a fighting 30. However, the damage had already been done. Suyash Sharma and Krunal Pandya tightened the screws in the middle overs. Hazlewood returned to finish things off in style by claiming a four-wicket haul.

His pinpoint yorker cleaned up Porel. That summed up a clinical performance. RCB completely dominated DC in one of the most one-sided bowling efforts of the season.
