Ishan Kishan, who is leading East Zone in the Duleep Trophy 2026 final against South Zone at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, smashed a stunning 270 in the opening innings. He then continued his impressive form on Thursday, scoring 80 off 98 balls in the second innings.

His latest half-century has added another major milestone to his name. Kishan has now scored the most runs by a batter in a single Duleep Trophy match, taking his total in the final to 350 runs.

Before Kishan, the record belonged to Raman Lamba, who scored 320 runs for North Zone against West Zone in the 1987 Duleep Trophy final in Bhilai. Lamba made all his runs in the first innings and did not get another chance to bat.

Kishan’s 80 on Day 4 came from 98 deliveries and included nine fours and three sixes. He also put together a 126-run partnership for the third wicket with Shikhar Mohan.

Mohan, playing his first Duleep Trophy match, scored 52 in the second innings after making 85 in the first.

Kishan’s contribution has put East Zone in a commanding position. Their overall lead has gone up to 584 runs with five wickets still left.

With only one day remaining, East Zone are now firmly in control and are close to lifting the Duleep Trophy title.

For Kishan, it has been an excellent response to the responsibility of leading East Zone. The Jharkhand batter has made his captaincy count with the bat and produced one of the standout performances of the tournament.
