Virat Kohli's blistering finish in the end stole the show as India outclassed Bangladesh by seven wickets to register their fourth successive win in the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023 in Pune on Thursday.

Chasing 256, Kohli struck an unbeaten 103 studded with four sixes and six fours to complete his 48th ODI ton. With a win over Bangladesh, India matched New Zealand in continuing the winning streak in the tournament.

Kohli and Rahul put the final nail in India's winning chariot as they added an 83-run unbeaten partnership for the fourth wicket to clinch the win to bag two crucial points in the standings. Rahul lauded his partner and former teammate Kohli for completing his ton and finishing the innings.

“Virat, the less you say the better about it. He has been notching up those numbers for years now — that is what he did again. There was an opportunity at the end, (and) he finished the game for us,” PTI quoted Rahul as saying.

“Getting a hundred is always very special, I am really happy for him. Ro (Rohit Sharma) has got a hundred now, Virat has got a hundred (too). Hopefully, as the World Cup goes (on), a few more of us can get these hundreds and keep winning the matches,” he added.

Rahul does not want to be carried away with their unbeaten record and wants to continue the 'one game at a time' approach.

“Not thinking so much, (we) just want to take one game at a time. Whatever we do, whether we bowl first or bat first, it is important that we do it well and we are not thinking too much about it,” he said.

The wicketkeeper-batter further heaped praises on premier pacer Jasprit Bumrah saying that Men in Blue are lucky to have him in their squad.

“(He is) super special, really lucky that we have him on our team and lucky that we don't have to break our bats with his yorkers and have to face at the end. We have faced him a little bit in the IPL. He is a top quality bowler, really happy that he is back, he is fit. He spent a lot of time at the NCA in recovery and getting stronger,” Rahul said.

India will next take on table toppers New Zealand at Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala on Sunday, October 22.
