Vijay Hazare Trophy 2026: The ongoing domestic tournament entered its sixth round on Thursday. Post every match, a new player grabs attention for his brilliant on-field performance.

Shivang Kumar is the latest uncapped player to join this trend. While playing for Madhya Pradesh, he took a fifer and dismantled Karnataka's batting lineup. He registered figures of 5/45. He took the wickets of Smaran Ravichandran, Abhinav Manohar, and Shryeas Gopal.

There was a lot of talk around him as he was bought by Sunrisers Hyderabad at the IPL 2026 auction for Rs 30 lakhs. He will be playing for SRH in IPL 2026.

Meet Shivang Kumar: SRH’s latest recruit

He made his T20 debut in November last year. He has had a dream run in the Vijay Hazare Trophy as he has taken 10 wickets after playing in three matches.

Apart from being a brilliant bowler, he is also a good batter. He played in the MP T20 league, where he took five wickets after playing in 4 matches and had scored 120 runs. He batted at a strike rate of 196.

Finding a good left-arm wrist spinner is a rarity in India, and apart from Kuldeep Yadav, none of them have played at the top level. Shivang does have an upper edge as he can also bat, whereas the other left-arm wrist spinner can't. And that's why SRH might include him in the playing XI.

Madhya Pradesh is flourishing under Shivang Kumar

Shivang Kumar’s brilliant performance has helped Madhya Pradesh stay alive. So far, they have won 6 matches and are lying in 4th position in the points table. They need to win their last match with a good score to qualify for the knockout.

He is also the MP's second-highest wicket-taker as he has taken 13 wickets after playing in 7 matches. These two spinners have performed well for MP.

SRH badly needed a brilliant spinner, and Shivang's presence can bolster their spin attack.
