ICC Player of the Month: The ICC has revealed the names of the women's and men's players who have been shortlisted for Player of the Month awards for December 2025. Although India dominated mostly the women's list, with Shafali Varma being nominated, there was no Indian player in the men's category.
WOMEN'S NOMINEES: SHAFALI LEADS STRONG FIELD
India's star opener Shafali Varma leads the women's list on the back of her brilliant performance in the five-match T20I series against Sri Lanka. She had scored 241 runs at a brilliant average of 80.33 and a strike rate of 181.20, where she had smashed three fifties. Her brilliant knock of runs in the 4th match, along with a record-breaking opening partnership, helped the team post their mammoth target.
South Africa skipper Laura Wolvaardt maintained her sublime form from last year. She had smashed consecutive ODI tons against Ireland and helped the team win by 3-0, where she had scored 255 runs at an average of 127.15. She maintained her sublime form in the shortest format as well, where she had scored 115 runs at a strike rate of 205.35
Wolvaardt's teammate is the third player in this list, who too had a dream run in all formats. She had scored 205 runs at a staggering ODI rate in the 50-over format, which also includes a ton, and had scored 118 runs in the T20I series against Ireland.
MEN'S NOMINEES: STARC, DUFFY AND GREAVES SHORTLISTED
Australia's star pacer Mitchell Starc is leading this list along with New Zealand seamer Jacob Duffy and West Indies all-rounder Justin Greaves.
Greaves performed brilliantly in the Test series against New Zealand, where he scored 283 runs at an average of 56.60. He had smashed a double ton in the first Test at Christchurch.
Duffy, too, had a dream run as he played a huge role in helping New Zealand beat West Indies by 2-0. He had taken 23 wickets at a staggering average of 15.34 and was adjudged Player of the Series award. He also surpassed Richard Hadlee and became New Zealand's wicket-taker across formats, as he has taken 81 wickets.
The last player in this list is Starc, who played an important role in helping the host retain the Ashes. He had taken 16 wickets and had scored 139 runs after playing in three matches. In the second Test, he had taken 6 wickets and had scored 77 runs, and also made significant contributions in Adelaide, helping the team retain the Ashes.
