Australia batter Travis Head will join his teammate Steve Smith at Washington Freedom for the second season of the Major League Cricket, scheduled to take place after the conclusion of the T20 World Cup in June.

Currently, Head is playing in the IPL 2024 season for Sunrisers Hyderabad and will extend his T20 presence to the United States with his maiden stint at MLC 2024. This comes a week after Smith joined the franchise for the second edition.

After the conclusion of the T20 World Cup 2024 in the West Indies and the USA, Australia have no bilateral commitments until travelling to England for a white-ball tour in September.

Both Head and Smith will be playing under head coach Ricky Ponting, who replaced Greg Shipperd in the role recently.

New Zealand all-arounder Rachin Ravindra has signed with Freedom, the team announced recently. They retained Marco Jansen and Akeal Hosein, two foreign players from the 2023 campaign.

For the second season of MLC, Head joins Smith, Adam Zampa (Los Angeles Knight Riders), Spencer Johnson (Knight Riders), and Tim David (MI New York) as confirmed Australian signings. More players will likely to join the tournament, which begins right after the T20 World Cup that concludes on June 29.
