As per the latest update, Bangladesh's star fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman is expected to be released from KKR before IPL 2026. Rahman did have the chance to take action against them owing to his forced release from the team, but he decided to move on. Mohammad Mithun, who is the president of Cricketers' Welfare Association of Bangladesh (CWAB), said that they did think about taking legal action against KKR, but then Rehman told them not to.
The controversy began earlier this month when BCCI told KKR to let go of Mustafizur after buying him for a whopping amount of Rs 9.20 crore for IPL 2026, owing to geopolitical tensions between these two countries.
As per Mithun, the World Cricketers' Association (WCA), which is the global body of players' unions, was keeping a close tab on this situation. The WCA told CWAB that they can take legal action against KKR for terminating the contract.

As per protocols, if a player is let go in such a situation, then he is entitled to compensation. But Mustafizur decided not to.
"The WCA was ready to support a formal protest or legal inquiry into the contract termination", Mithun told reporters in the press conference.
Due to this reason, CWAB didn't protest.

The Controversy
One of the biggest reasons why Mustafizur was released was because of geopolitical tensions, as protests were held in India against violence against Hindu minorities in Bangladesh. Although KKR said that they bought only on "cricketing merit," the BCCI interfered and told them to release him.
Owing to this, the Bangladesh government had put a ban on the telecast of IPL in Bangladesh, and the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB had requested the ICC to change their venues of T20 World Cup matches owing to safety issues.
