Jammu and Kashmir speedster Auqib Nabi has been added to India’s squad for the first three ODIs against New Zealand. He was initially named in the squad only for the fourth and fifth matches but will now be available from the beginning of the series. Nabi who played a crucial role in J&K's Ranji Trophy win, has been added as Prasidh Krishna's replacement.

Nabi made his ODI debut for India against the West Indies in Guwahati on September 30, 2026. The pacer has received an early call-up following an injury to Prasidh Krishna, who has been ruled out of the upcoming series.

BCCI confirms Auqib Nabi’s inclusion

The BCCI confirmed the development through an official statement on Friday.

“The Men’s Selection Committee has added Auqib Nabi to the squad for the first three ODIs against New Zealand. The right-arm pacer, who was initially in the squad for the fourth and fifth ODIs of the series, will be a part of the Indian squad from the start of the ODI series,” the board stated.

Nabi’s inclusion comes a day after the BCCI announced that Prasidh Krishna would miss the ODI series against the Black Caps.

Prasidh Krishna to join India squad in New Zealand

Prasidh suffered a hamstring injury during the second ODI against the West Indies at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium. Although he was initially named in India’s squad for the first three matches against New Zealand, his selection was subject to fitness.

The fast bowler will now travel to New Zealand next week and is expected to play the third unofficial Test for India A against New Zealand A in Lincoln. The match will give him an opportunity to get some game time before the two-match Test series between the senior teams.

Auqib Nabi’s ODI numbers

Nabi has played just one ODI for India so far. He made his debut against the West Indies but had an outing to forget, conceding 84 runs in 8.5 overs without taking a wicket.

The Jammu and Kashmir pacer was also part of the India A squad for the ongoing tour of New Zealand. He featured in the first unofficial Test against New Zealand A but missed out on a place in the playing XI for the second match, which began in Christchurch on Saturday, October 31.
