Prasidh Krishna will have to wait longer for another opportunity to cement his place in India’s playing XI. The fast bowler has been ruled out of the upcoming five-match ODI series against New Zealand as he is yet to recover fully from a hamstring injury.
The BCCI has not announced a replacement for the Karnataka pacer.
With the two-match Test series against New Zealand also coming up, Prasidh will now focus on getting back to full fitness. The team management does not want to rush his return and risk aggravating the injury.

The 30-year-old is expected to join India A for the third and final four-day match against New Zealand A. However, his participation will depend on whether he clears the Return to Play (RTP) assessment.
Prasidh Krishna’s Injury Concerns Continue
Injuries have repeatedly interrupted Prasidh’s career, and this latest setback comes at a time when he was looking to establish himself in the Indian team.
His last outing for India came in the second ODI against West Indies in Guwahati on September 30. He bowled just five overs in that match, taking one wicket for 45 runs, before leaving the field with a hamstring problem.
Further medical assessments confirmed the injury, which also ruled him out of the third and final ODI.
The pacer has already missed two IPL seasons because of injuries. A lumbar stress fracture kept him out of the 2023 edition, while a quadriceps tendon injury forced him to miss the 2024 season.
However, he made a strong comeback in IPL 2025 while playing for Gujarat Titans. Prasidh picked up 25 wickets and finished as the tournament’s leading wicket-taker.
He has also been part of India’s Test setup this year, featuring in all three Tests, including the matches against Afghanistan and the two-Test series in Sri Lanka.
Nitish Reddy Available For First ODI Against New Zealand
Meanwhile, allrounder Nitish Reddy will be available for India’s first ODI against New Zealand, scheduled to be played on November 4.
He will join the India A squad after the opening match to prepare for the upcoming Test series. As a result, Reddy will miss the second and third ODIs, contrary to the earlier plan.
The move will give him an opportunity to get some red-ball practice ahead of the two-Test series.
Mohammed Siraj To Join India A Squad
Mohammed Siraj will also be part of the India A setup. The fast bowler is set to join the squad for the second four-day match against New Zealand A, which begins on October 31.
