Mumbai Indians have announced their decision to part ways with Lasith Malinga, Paras Mhambrey and Carl Hopkinson from their men’s team coaching staff.

Malinga has been associated with the franchise for several years, first as a player and later as a coach. Mhambrey joined the support staff ahead of IPL 2025, while Hopkinson took charge as the fielding coach in 2024.

The franchise confirmed the development in an official statement, thanking all three for their contributions to the team.

The franchise also acknowledged their contribution to the MI family and wished them well for the future.

Lasith Malinga’s Long Association With Mumbai Indians

Malinga enjoyed a successful 11-year playing career with Mumbai Indians before moving into coaching. He joined the support staff as a bowling mentor during the IPL 2018 season.

Ahead of IPL 2024, the former Sri Lankan pacer took over as the team’s fast-bowling coach, replacing Shane Bond. His departure marks the end of another chapter in his long association with the franchise.
