Sahibzada Farhan has been named captain of Pakistan’s men’s cricket team for the Asian Games 2026, which will take place in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, from September 19 to October 4. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced the 15-member squad on Wednesday.

Sahibzada Farhan's T20I career

The 30-year-old Farhan has played 46 T20Is for Pakistan and scored 1,305 runs, including two centuries and 10 fifties. Abdul Samad has been appointed vice-captain. He has represented Pakistan in five T20Is so far.

Among the players selected, Akif Javed, Ali Raza, Maaz Sadaqat and Saad Masood are yet to make their T20I debut for Pakistan.

Fourteen of the 15 players picked for the Asian Games squad are also part of the National Cricket Academy’s White-Ball Camp, which will be held in Lahore from June 15 to June 18.

Cricket at the Asian Games will be played in the T20 format, with 10 teams competing at Korogi Athletic Park in Aichi Prefecture. The men’s tournament will begin on September 24, while the medal matches are scheduled for October 3.

The PCB also confirmed that 49 players have been selected for the National Cricket Academy’s Red-Ball and White-Ball camps. The camps are aimed at helping players prepare for upcoming international and domestic assignments.

During the training programme, players will work closely with national and NCA coaches, along with PCB medical staff, focusing on improving their skills, fitness and overall performance. They will also take part in one-on-one sessions with coaches to better understand the standards and requirements needed to succeed at the international level.
