T20 World Cup 2026: Pakistan's defeat at the hands of England in the T20 World Cup Super Eights match has attracted disappointing reactions from their fans and former players. However, some cricket fans blurred the line of constructive criticism by posting threatening messages directed at the family of captain Salman Agha. Notably, Salman's wife, Sabba, posted a story on her Instagram account, which confirmed the abuse levelled against herself and her son.

In her story, Sabba posted a sarcastic comment which stated that threatening her or her son, Pakistan will not win the T20 World Cup.

Fans also turned to using offensive language towards other players after Pakistan was defeated by two wickets in Pallekele, Sri Lanka, on Tuesday.

At the same time, numerous social media users criticized the use of disrespectful and threatening language directed at players and their families, with former captain Moin Khan sharing similar encounters from when Pakistan lost the final of the 1999 World Cup.

"It is totally unacceptable and the cyber crimes wing should investigate these threatening posts and punish them," he said.

There have been past instances of Pakistani cricket fans getting hyperemotional whenever the team loses in a major ICC event.

What Salman Agha said on Pakistan's loss:

Agha highlighted Farhan’s performance and acknowledged that the rest of the batting lineup fell short. “I think he’s batted very well throughout the World Cup. Other batters haven’t played the way we wanted to, but it can happen like that in World Cups," he remarked about Farhan.

On the bowling side, Agha commended Shaheen Shah Afridi for his early breakthroughs, a familiar sight against England.

“He bowled really well today. He’s famous for early wickets, and he did that today. Whenever we play against England and lose, it’s always him. Have to say hats off to him and the way he batted today. Very challenging, the way he batted. He can play all around the ground, so it can get challenging," he noted.
