T20 World Cup Controversy: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) delayed its decision on participation in the T20 World Cup, with the cricket board suggesting that a definitive verdict will be forthcoming by Friday at the earliest.

Pakistan's possible boycott of the high-stakes clash against hosts India is also on the table, driven by solidarity with Bangladesh, which was axed from the tournament.

A final call on Pakistan's T20 World Cup participation is expected by Friday or next Monday, following a meeting between PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

Later, Naqvi took to his social media to confirm that the issue was discussed in detail with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in Islamabad.

"I had a productive meeting with the Prime Minister and briefed him on the ICC matter. He directed that we resolve it while keeping all options on the table," Naqvi tweeted.

"It was agreed that the final decision will be taken either on Friday or next Monday," he added.

Prime Minister Sharif reportedly advised PCB chairman Naqvi to extend support to Bangladesh. The PCB had noted that the government would choose Pakistan's T20 World Cup participation following Bangladesh's exit.

Bangladesh had reached the world body to relocate matches to Sri Lanka due to security concerns in India, but the ICC rejected the request, citing no verifiable threat.

Pakistan are penned to start their T20 World Cup campaign against the Netherlands on February 7 in Colombo, followed by matches against the USA (February 10), India (February 15) and Namibia (February 18).

PCB also unveiled its 15-man squad on Sunday, including seasoned Babar Azam but omitting Haris Rauf. The squad will be led by Salman Ali Agha.
