Rohit Sharma had a brief scare after India’s victory over West Indies in the first ODI in Thiruvananthapuram, as the veteran batter slipped while getting off the team bus.

A video of the incident has gone viral on social media, with Virat Kohli appearing concerned as Rohit lost his balance on the stairs.

The incident took place as the Indian team returned to its hotel following the eight-wicket victory at the Greenfield International Stadium on Sunday.

Rohit was seen stepping down from the bus when his foot suddenly slipped, causing him to lose his balance.

A member of the support staff immediately moved towards Rohit to steady him, while a nearby policeman also appeared to assist the former India captain.

Rohit subsequently regained his balance and walked away from the scene. Reports have described the incident as a brief injury scare, with no immediate indication of a serious injury.

The 39-year-old returned to India’s ODI setup for the West Indies series alongside Virat Kohli, with Shubman Gill leading the side.

Rohit has previously played down questions surrounding his participation in the 2027 World Cup, saying, “October 2027 is far away; we will see about it then.”

India began the three-match ODI series with a convincing eight-wicket victory over West Indies in Thiruvananthapuram. West Indies posted 295/7 after batting first, with Justin Greaves scoring a century.
