Ryan ten Doeschate has joined Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) as their Head of Cricket Strategy after finishing his role as assistant coach with the Indian men’s cricket team.
Ten Doeschate and fielding coach T Dilip recently left the national team after the BCCI decided not to extend their contracts.
What will be Ten Doeschate's role in KKR?
At KKR, the former Netherlands all-rounder will be responsible for shaping the cricket strategy across the Knight Riders’ teams around the world. His job will include finding new talent, improving player development, planning squads, handling recruitment and reviewing team performances.

He will also work closely with the coaching staff to create a common playing style across all Knight Riders franchises. Along with his new role, he will serve as assistant coach for Trinbago Knight Riders in the Caribbean Premier League, Abu Dhabi Knight Riders in the ILT20 and Los Angeles Knight Riders in Major League Cricket.
Speaking about his appointment, ten Doeschate said he is excited by the opportunity to work with the coaching and analytics teams across the franchise network. He added that his focus will be on strengthening scouting, developing players and building a long-term cricket plan.

KKR CEO Venky Mysore said ten Doeschate’s strong understanding of the franchise’s culture, along with his experience in both international and franchise cricket, made him the right person for the position.
Ten Doeschate's second stint for KKR
Ten Doeschate has shared a long relationship with KKR. He was part of the team’s IPL-winning squads in 2012 and 2014 as a player, and later returned as a coach during their title-winning campaign in 2024.
