India T20I captain Shreyas Iyer has reached a new high in the ICC T20I batting rankings after his stunning century against the West Indies. Iyer has jumped 18 places to seventh in the latest rankings. He is now India’s third-highest ranked batter in the shortest format.

The rise comes after a brilliant performance in the first T20I in Lucknow on Tuesday, where Iyer smashed an unbeaten 102 off only 43 balls.

His knock included 10 fours and six sixes and helped India chase down the target comfortably to win the match by eight wickets.

Four Indians In T20I Top 10

India continue to dominate the top end of the T20I batting rankings. Ishan Kishan remains at No. 1, while Abhishek Sharma occupies the second spot. Iyer has moved into seventh, with Tilak Varma holding the 10th position.

That means India now have four batters inside the top 10.

Youngster Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has also made a big jump. The teenager has moved up eight places to 46th after his recent performances.

West Indies batter Sherfane Rutherford has climbed 10 spots to 37th after his quick 56, while Pakistan’s Hasan Nawaz has jumped an impressive 62 places to 48th following his performances at the Asian Games.

Rashid Khan Back At No. 1

There has also been a change at the top of the T20I bowling rankings.

Afghanistan star Rashid Khan has reclaimed the No. 1 position after Abrar Ahmed slipped from the summit.

Abrar’s figures of 0/29 and 1/29 in the Asian Games semi-final and final were not enough to keep him at the top.

Rashid has now returned to No. 1 for the eighth time in his career. He has also spent more time at the top of the T20I bowling rankings than any other player by a significant margin.

India spinner Axar Patel has also made a major jump. The left-arm spinner has climbed 16 places to seventh after taking two wickets in each of his three matches over the past week.

Shubman Gill Remains ODI No. 1

In the ODI rankings, Shubman Gill continues to sit at the top.

The India ODI captain strengthened his position after producing a sensational unbeaten 223 in the second ODI against the West Indies in Guwahati.

Gill’s innings was his second ODI double-century and also became the highest individual score in an ODI run chase.

The knock earned him 25 rating points and took his tally to 841, matching his career-best rating.

Virat Kohli Drops To Third

Former India captain Virat Kohli has slipped one place to third in the latest ODI batting rankings.

KL Rahul, meanwhile, has returned to the top 10. The wicketkeeper-batter moved up seven places to No. 10 after scoring a brilliant century in the third ODI against the West Indies.

With Gill continuing to hold the top spot and Kohli and Rahul also inside the top 10, India remain strongly represented among the world’s leading ODI batters.
