India captain Shubman Gill had a simple reaction to one of the biggest run chases in ODI cricket. Gill was at the centre of India’s stunning victory, producing a sensational unbeaten double century as the hosts chased down the massive target to take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match ODI series.
After India chased down 406 against the West Indies in the second ODI, Gill shared a few pictures on social media with the caption, “406? Cool.” The post quickly went viral.
Gill, Rohit Power India to Record Chase
The West Indies had earlier posted 405/7, their highest-ever total in ODI cricket, after centuries from John Campbell, Shai Hope and Amir Jangoo.
India, however, made the huge target look surprisingly comfortable.

Gill smashed an unbeaten 233 off just 133 balls, hitting 26 fours and eight sixes. His knock was complemented by Rohit Sharma, who scored 101 off 75 balls to register his 35th ODI century.
The two openers put together a stunning 255-run partnership to put India firmly in control of the chase.
India Chase Down 406 With 39 Balls to Spare
India eventually reached 406/2 in only 43.3 overs, winning the match by eight wickets with 39 balls still remaining.
Gill’s unbeaten double century was the highlight of the chase, while Rohit’s aggressive hundred provided India with the perfect start.
The victory also gave India an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match ODI series.

West Indies’ Three Centuries Go in Vain
Earlier, the West Indies produced a massive total of 405/7. John Campbell led the way with 101, while Shai Hope scored 104 and Amir Jangoo smashed 114.
Despite three centuries and their highest-ever ODI total, the West Indies had no answer to India’s extraordinary chase, with Gill and Rohit turning the match into a one-sided affair.
India vs West Indies 3rd ODI
The third ODI between India and West Indies is scheduled to take place on October 3 at PCA Stadium in Punjab. West Indies will now look to win the dead-rubber clash to save the series whitewash. Notably, India speedster Prasidh Krishna has been ruled out of the series after suffering an injury in the second ODI.
