India vice-captain Smriti Mandhana added another major milestone to her career on Tuesday as she became the first woman cricketer to score 11,000 runs in international cricket.

Mandhana reached the landmark during the Asian Games 2026 final against Sri Lanka at Korogi Sports Park in Nisshin.

Mandhana reaches 11,000-run milestone

Mandhana came into the final needing only 13 runs to reach 11,000 international runs. She had scored 10,987 runs across the three formats, 788 in Tests, 5,411 in ODIs and 4,788 in T20Is.

India won the toss and decided to bat first, giving Mandhana the opportunity to reach the landmark early in the innings.

She got off the mark with two boundaries in the opening over before hitting a six in the third over to complete 11,000 runs in international cricket.

The achievement comes shortly after another major record for the India star. During the recently concluded Asia Cup, Mandhana went past former India captain Mithali Raj’s tally of 10,868 runs to become the highest run-scorer in women’s international cricket across formats.

Another T20I record for Mandhana

Mandhana has also been rewriting the record books in T20 cricket. She recently became the highest run-scorer in T20I cricket across men’s and women’s cricket, moving past former New Zealand batter Suzie Bates.

Mandhana achieved the feat during India’s 37-run win over Bangladesh in the Asian Games semi-final.

India unchanged for Asian Games final

India went into the gold-medal match with an unchanged team after reaching the final with wins over Japan and Bangladesh.

Sri Lanka also named an unchanged XI for the final as they looked to win their first-ever Asian Games gold medal.

The final is a repeat of the 2023 Asian Games gold-medal match, which India won. The two teams had also met in the Women’s Asia Cup earlier this month, with India emerging victorious on that occasion.

Sri Lanka reached the final after beating Malaysia and Pakistan in their previous two matches.

Sri Lanka chase first Asian Games gold

Sri Lanka have won medals in both of their previous appearances in women’s cricket at the Asian Games. They claimed bronze in 2014 before taking silver in 2022.

They are now aiming to go one step further and win their first gold medal in the competition.

India, meanwhile, made their Asian Games women’s cricket debut in 2023 and won the gold medal. They entered the 2026 final looking to retain their title.
