CSK vs SRH IPL 2026: The Chennai Super Kings fans experienced a rollercoaster of emotions at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium on Monday. Although the former champions fell to Sunrisers Hyderabad by five wickets, fans rejoiced when MS Dhoni strode onto the ground for a brief moment. He hasn't appeared for the Chennai-based franchise in a single match this year due to an injury, leaving fans heartbroken. However, since the team last hosted its home match at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium, Dhoni marched onto the field, posed with the whole team, circled the stadium in a lap of honor, and expressed his gratitude to the crowd for their steadfast support.

Dhoni also greeted his former CSK teammate Suresh Raina, who attended the stadium as a commentator. Both Dhoni and Raina propelled the Chennai-based franchise to four IPL trophies.

CSK fans cling to hope for Dhoni's return, yearning for one last appearance either in the final group stage or next season. Raina’s revelation of a touching conversation with Dhoni about a comeback stirs more longing. Dhoni's response leaves CSK fans crestfallen.

"I told him, You have given IPL 2026 a missed call. It won't count. You must return next year. He replied, 'My body is a little weak.' I insisted, 'We do not believe anything. You must play next year.' It's his personal call. I feel he is positive. The team is uniting well again," Raina was quoted as saying on Star Sports.

Dhoni, who hasn't participated in a single match this year, confessed to Raina that his body isn't responding the way it once did. That's why representing this team during IPL 2027 might pose a challenge.

During the post-match press conference, Stephen Fleming, CSK's head coach, was also asked about Dhoni's future. He didn't say much and emphasized that the management would decide for him.

"It's a choice for the management. I know there has been a lot of talk about it. MS (Dhoni) has been around a lot this year, which is crucial for the team and the continuity of young players, so he's been a big part of that. He hasn't played, but he's continued to impact the team," Stephen Fleming told reporters during the post-match press conference.

"There are many good things we've accomplished. We've introduced some new players who we hope will emerge as regulars for CSK. But I know we are judged on results, that's fair. So yeah, that's a management call, not mine," he concluded.
