T20 World Cup: India opener Abhishek Sharma's torrid T20 World Cup campaign took another hit on Wednesday, as he was bowled for a third consecutive duck in the ongoing maqueer event.
Abhishek's third duck of the tournament came during the match against the Netherlands at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
Desperate to come out of his underwhelming performance, Abhishek had resorted to wearing Mohammed Siraj's jersey, hoping to conjure up a change in fortune. However, the gamble did not work out in the opener's favour.
Abhishek's struggles continued as he was bowled for a duck by off-spinner Aryan Dutt, just three balls into India's innings. He had previously fallen to Shadley van Schalkwyk's first-ball yorker against the USA and Salman Ali Agha's clever off-spin against Pakistan.
The opener's unconventional pre-match ritual sparked social media buzz ahead of the match and in a bid to shake off his duck jinx, he donned Mohammed Siraj's jersey.
India captain Suryakumar Yadav won the toss and opted to bat against the Netherlands in their last Group Stage match on Wednesday.
India ringed in two changes, resting vice-captain Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav and bringing in Washington Sundar and Arshdeep Singh. The Netherlands made one change to their side, bringing in Noah Croes for Fred Klaassen.
