India's star batter Virat Kohli is set to feature in his fourth ODI World Cup as he will be aiming to make it count, having been in brilliant form with the bat lately.

Kohli, who was part of India's 2011 World Cup winning side provided a memorable moment when lifted the great Sachin Tendulkar alongside other players while carrying him around the ground.

Former India opener Virender Sehwag has a similar kind of wish in the bag for the former Indian skipper Kohli if India wins the prestigious tournament at home this year.

Kohli was leading the Indian team in the 2019 World Cup where they suffered a defeat in the semifinal against New Zealand in Manchester.

Alongside skipper Rohit Sharma, Virat will be the key for the Men in Blue in the mega event with the tournament likely being their last ODI World Cup.

Sehwag also feels that the veteran batters deserve to win the World Cup this year as India will be aiming to end the drought of the ICC title.

“These two senior players deserve to win the World Cup,” Sehwag said on Cricbuzz.

“Rohit Sharma was so close to getting picked for the 2011 World Cup but missed out. Later he became the Badshah of ODIs, he deserves to win a World Cup trophy because he is a fantastic player,” he added.

Sehwag further said that Kohli failed to score a century in the last edition of the World Cup in England but he wants him to compensate for that and finish the tournament as the leading run-getter this time.

“Chiku (Kohli’s nickname) didn’t score a single century in the 2019 World Cup, this year I hope he scores many hundreds and ends up as the leading run-scorer in the tournament. Then, I want him to be carried on the shoulders and get a round of the ground,” he concluded.

Kohli, who is the second-highest run-getter for India in World Cup history with 1030 runs in 26 matches, scored five-half centuries while accumulating 443 runs at an average of 55.37 in the 2019 World Cup.
