Rohit Sharma has made it clear that he has no plans to retire from One Day Internationals anytime soon. After scoring a brilliant century against England at Lord's on Sunday, the Indian captain dismissed the rumours about his ODI future with a smile.

Speaking after the match, Rohit joked about the retirement speculation by saying, "When there is no noise, there is no fun." His comment came after several reports claimed that he would announce his retirement from ODI cricket following the third ODI against England.

Rohit Sharma Focused on 2027 ODI World Cup

With his retirement from T20Is and Test cricket already behind him, Rohit is now fully focused on the 50-over format. His biggest goal is to lead India to victory in the 2027 ODI World Cup, which will be hosted by South Africa.

The painful defeat in the 2023 World Cup final against Australia is still fresh in his memory where India remained unbeaten throughout the tournament before losing the title decider. Rohit now wants one more chance to lift the World Cup trophy and complete the only major achievement missing from his career.

To prepare for the challenge ahead, the Indian skipper has reportedly lost around 10 kilograms.

Rohit's Brilliant Century at Lord's

England set India a massive target of 388 runs, making the chase one of the toughest in recent years. The target also reminded fans of the famous NatWest Series final at Lord's in 2002.

Rohit started carefully before taking control of the innings with his trademark pull shots and elegant stroke play. He scored a magnificent 138 runs at a strike rate of 125.45, smashing 17 fours and 5 sixes.

His innings ended when England's Jacob Bethell dismissed him, but by then Rohit had once again proved why he is known as the "Hitman."

Rohit Sharma Responds to Retirement Speculation

After the match, Rohit addressed the retirement rumours and said he has learned to ignore outside opinions throughout his career.

Speaking to BCCI.tv, he said his only responsibility is to perform for India whenever he steps onto the field.

"My job is with my bat. I have been told since my debut to come and represent the country, and that is exactly what I am doing."

Rohit added that criticism and rumours have always been part of his journey and they do not affect his mindset.

"The noise has always been there since my debut, and it will always be there as long as I play. What matters is what I do on the field and how I contribute to the team's success."

He ended the discussion with a light-hearted remark that quickly caught the attention of fans.

"When there is no noise, there is no fun. My job is inside the field, and their job is outside. That's how I look at it."

The retirement rumours gained momentum after India's defeat in the second ODI in Cardiff. While the BCCI denied the reports, many fans and cricket experts continued to speculate about Rohit's future.
