The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will carry out a detailed review of the men’s T20I team after the ongoing England tour comes to an end. The decision comes after India suffered a heavy nine-wicket defeat to England in the fourth T20I, giving the hosts an unassailable 3-0 lead in the five-match series.

Speaking to IANS from Edinburgh, where the ICC Annual Conference is taking place, BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia admitted that the team is going through a difficult period but said the board will closely examine the reasons behind the poor performances once the tour is over.

How India's struggled in 4th T20I vs England?
In the fourth T20I at Bristol, India struggled with the bat once again. Apart from captain Shreyas Iyer, who remained unbeaten on 80, none of the batters could make a meaningful contribution. Poor shot selection saw India finish on 158/7, a total that proved well below par.
England chased down the target comfortably, with captain Harry Brook scoring an unbeaten 79 and Phil Salt remaining not out on 59 as the hosts sealed victory with six overs to spare.
India’s recent T20I form has been disappointing. Since returning to international cricket, the team has lost its first-ever T20I series to Ireland and has now been outplayed by England. The tour also included a record 125-run defeat in Nottingham, where India were bowled out for just 76.
Several areas have hurt India’s chances throughout the series. The top and middle order have struggled to score consistently, especially on seaming pitches. The bowling attack has also missed the experience of Hardik Pandya and Jasprit Bumrah, while the team’s fielding has been below its usual standards.
India will now look to avoid a 4-0 scoreline when they face England in the fifth and final T20I at the Rose Bowl in Southampton on Saturday. A victory is also important if they want to hold on to the No. 1 spot in the ICC men’s T20I rankings.
The outcome of the BCCI’s review could shape India’s plans ahead of their next assignment, a three-match T20I series against Zimbabwe, which is scheduled to start on July 23.
