India T20I captain Shreyas Iyer has grabbed attention ahead of the upcoming T20I series against Ireland, but this time it has nothing to do with his performances on the field.
Iyer, who is set to lead India in the two-match T20I series in Belfast, recently made an unusual change to his Instagram bio. Along with his regular details, he added a line that reads: “Second D.O.B: 25/12/2025.”
The update quickly caught the attention of fans, mainly because Iyer’s actual date of birth is December 6, 1994. As a result, many began wondering what the new date could mean.
So far, the Indian captain has not offered any explanation, which has only increased curiosity among his followers. While some initially believed it was a typing error, the fact that the bio remains unchanged has led many to think the date holds special significance.
Fans started searching for clues, including checking Iyer’s social media posts from around December 25 last year. However, neither his Instagram nor X account provided any clear answer.

One possible explanation could be linked to a serious injury he suffered late last year.
During India’s ODI series against Australia in October 2025, Iyer sustained a spleen injury while taking a catch. The injury caused internal bleeding and required immediate medical attention, which forced him out of cricketing action for several weeks.
After a lengthy recovery, Iyer returned to action in domestic cricket and impressed with scores of 82 and 45 for Mumbai in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. He was later declared fit and rejoined the Indian team for the ODI series against New Zealand in January.
Some fans on social media believe the “Second D.O.B” reference could be connected to that difficult period in his life. According to one theory, December 25 may represent the start of his recovery or a moment he considers a second chance at life and cricket.
