WTC Points Table 2025-27: Australia strengthened their stay at the top of the WTC points table after defeating England in the third Test of the ongoing Ashes series by 82 runs at the Adelaide Oval on Sunday. Having outclassed England in all departments once again, Australia have retained the Ashes and are 3-0 up in the five-match series.
This was Australia's sixth win in six matches in the ongoing World Test Championship (2023-25) cycle, and they now have 72 points under their belt and an impressive 100 per cent points percentage. South Africa are placed second in the WTC standings with 36 points after four Tests and a PCT of 75%. New Zealand and Sri Lanka are next to follow in the updated WTC points table with 16 points each after two games.

On the other hand, Pakistan stand in the fifth position with 12 points after two matches, just above sixth-placed India. The Shubman Gill-led side have 52 points under their belt, having recently suffered a 0-2 series defeat at home against the Proteas. Talking about England, they have been very disappointing in the ongoing series and will be hoping for improvement to get something to cheer about in the remaining two Test matches.

Australia have been incredibly dominant in the home Ashes over the past few years as they haven't allowed England to win a single Test on their home soil since the 2010/11 tour. Australia headed into the final day needing four wickets to retain the Ashes, with England resuming at 6-207 and still 228 runs away from the victory target of 435 that would have required a world record to achieve.
Mitchell Starc took the only wicket in the morning session as he dismissed Jamie Smith, caught by Cummins for 60, as England piled on 102 runs.
England's rally had kept the contest alive until lunch on the last day. Australia needed three wickets to clinch the old urn in Adelaide, and England needed 126 runs to keep the five-match series alive. Starc, who was voted player of the match in Australia's eight-wicket wins in Perth and Brisbane, took the wickets of Will Jacks (47), spectacularly caught by Marnus Labuschagne, who dived from slip in front of the wicketkeeper, and Jofra Archer (3).
That left Scott Boland to finish it off. He dismissed Josh Tongue (1) and left Brydon Carse stranded on 39 as England was all out for 352.
