Amid the Delhi government's grand claims to make the entire capital pothole-free, the Dabri-Gurgaon Road has remained completely untouched by the road improvement campaign and the PWD's professed proactivity. The situation is such that deep potholes have formed all over this busy road, making travel here nothing short of a nightmare. 

The Dabri-Gurgaon Road is a major route connecting some of Delhi's most important commercial and residential centres. It directly connects densely populated areas such as Dabri, Palam, Sagarpur, and Dwarka to Gurugram (Haryana) and IGI Airport.

Additionally, thousands of commuters travelling towards Janakpuri, Uttam Nagar, and Delhi Cantt use this route daily. The neglect of this route is not only causing traffic jams but is also tarnishing the capital's image. Residents have warned that if the road is not properly repaired soon, they will be forced to protest. Surprisingly, in the name of road repair, only a superficial effort is being made. 

Instead of properly filling the potholes with tarmac, they have been filled with brick and stone debris and rubbish. When fast-moving vehicles pass over these potholes, the debris scatters across the road and creates a cloud of dust in the air. This has not only increased the risk of asthma and eye diseases, but two-wheeler riders are also constantly having accidents due to the slippery conditions.

“Accidents are happening every day because of the potholes. The government's campaign seems to have lost its steam by the time it reached this road; we are very troubled,” said Bunty, a passerby.
