The Delhi Directorate of Education has made it compulsory for all government schools in the capital to record daily attendance of guest teachers. This move comes after complaints about irregular attendance marking, which has caused issues in salary disbursement, deployment, and monitoring.
According to the Directorate, many schools were not consistently recording guest teachers’ attendance, leading to disrupted records and delayed payments.

An official order now mandates that attendance be marked daily as per the prescribed system, ensuring accurate records, timely salaries, and accountability.
All District and Zonal Directors of Education have been instructed to ensure immediate compliance, while school principals are responsible for regular attendance marking to avoid any delays in salary release, counting total working days, or other administrative tasks.

Shoaib Rana, General Secretary of the All India Guest Teachers Association, welcomed the move, emphasising its importance for transparency and timely salary payments.
