The Delhi government is set to initiate four key infrastructure projects aimed at reducing traffic congestion in the national capital. These projects include:

  • An elevated road from Rani Jhansi Road to Anand Parvat on New Rohtak Road,
  • The Zakhira Flyover from the Anand Parvat Industrial Area,
  • A Mukarba Chowk to Sanjay Gandhi Transport Nagar elevated corridor, and
  • The proposed Mukarba bypass road.

The elevated road on New Rohtak Road will ease traffic in the Sarai Rohilla and Anand Parvat areas, which have seen increasing congestion in recent years.

To improve connectivity between GT Karnal Road, Singhu Border, and parts of Haryana, the government plans a 2.5 km elevated corridor from the under-construction Mukarba Chowk underpass to Sanjay Gandhi Transport Nagar. Officials will obtain No Objection Certificates (NOCs) from the Irrigation and Flood Control Department and other agencies before construction. This route connects outer Delhi to the Haryana border, a stretch plagued by heavy truck traffic and daily jams.

The Mukarba bypass road, a 1.5 km stretch proposed for several years, will allow commuters travelling from Wazirabad to Haryana to bypass Mukarba Chowk, significantly reducing traffic in the area.

Meanwhile, traffic from the Anand Parvat Industrial Area to the Zakhira Flyover has also increased, causing jams during peak and off-peak hours. The government’s planned measures aim to streamline vehicle movement on this busy corridor and improve overall traffic flow in the city.
