The face of liquor retailing in the national capital is set to change, with the Delhi State Civil Supplies Corporation Limited (DSCSC) planning to modernise and revamp selected government-run liquor shops to offer customers a safer and more premium shopping experience.

The DSCSC has floated tenders for the renovation of liquor shops in nine areas, including Paharganj and Hauz Khas, officials said. The move aims to replace crowded and dilapidated outlets with modern, well-equipped stores.

In Delhi, more than 700 liquor shops are operated by the city’s four government corporations, of which 172 are run by the DSCSC. Officials said the revamp is intended to provide customers with a luxurious and organised retail experience, similar to that offered by liquor outlets in neighbouring cities such as Gurugram and Noida.

As part of the upgrade, the renovated shops will feature premium lighting, modern flooring, and fully air-conditioned interiors. The plan also includes high-tech security arrangements, such as CCTV surveillance and fire safety systems, along with improved IT infrastructure.
