Delhi Free Gas Cylinder Scheme: The Delhi Cabinet, led by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, on Tuesday gave its nod to a proposal to provide free cooking gas cylinders to women from the economically weaker sections (EWS) on the occasion of Holi in March. This initiative, which also includes free cylinders for Diwali and subsidised gas cylinders at Rs 500 for financially weaker households, aligns with key commitments made by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the election manifesto for the Delhi Assembly elections.

Free Gas Cylinders For EWS Households

- The Delhi government will provide free cooking gas cylinders to women from economically weaker sections (EWS) families holding valid ration cards on the festival of Holi in March, news agency PTI reported.

- The scheme is expected to cost approximately Rs 300 crore.

- It will provide much-needed financial relief to thousands of families during the holiday season.

- This initiative follows a similar scheme implemented during Diwali, reflecting the Delhi government’s broader strategy to offer consistent support to the city’s financially weaker households.

Free Gas Cylinders On Holi And Diwali, Rs 2,500 Monthly Aid

- This initiative is a part of the BJP's election manifesto to provide free LPG cylinders on Diwali and Holi to EWS women, alongside subsidised cylinders at Rs 500 for financially weaker households.

- Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has also vowed to provide a monthly aid of Rs 2,500 to poor women, offering much-needed financial assistance.

Since taking office, the Delhi government has fulfilled some of its poll promises, including the implementation of the Ayushman Bharat health insurance scheme and the launch of Atal Canteens to provide nutritious meals to the needy for Rs 5, the PTI report added.
