Delhi Police carried out an extensive crackdown on criminal activities over the past year, arresting a total of 1,044 individuals involved in various crimes. Of these, 258 were accused of heinous offences, officials said.
According to Deputy Commissioner of Police D Sharad Bhaskar, the intensified policing and strategic patrolling led to a significant reduction in crime during 2025 compared to the previous year. The number of heinous crime cases in the district fell by 64, dropping from 322 cases in 2024 to 258 in 2025.

The police also recorded a sharp decline in other criminal activities. Incidents of snatching reduced by 171 cases, vehicle thefts dropped by 606 cases, and thefts from homes and shops fell by 309 cases. Officials attributed the improvement to increased patrolling, targeted operations and efforts to dismantle criminal networks.
During the same period, district police stepped up enforcement under the Excise Act, arresting 690 accused in liquor smuggling cases. Action was also taken against betting and gambling, with 354 cases registered, while 373 cases were filed against individuals found in possession of illegal weapons.
In addition, police recovered 1,176 stolen vehicles in 2025. A major crackdown on drug trafficking led to the seizure of large quantities of narcotics, including 132.9 kg of ganja and 7.16 kg of charas.
The DCP said the sustained and proactive approach adopted by the police has played a key role in improving law and order and curbing crime in the district.
