Delhi Weather Update: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for Thursday, forecasting partly cloudy to generally cloudy skies, with moderate fog at many places and dense fog at isolated locations during the morning hours. IMD also said another western disturbance is likely to affect the region from the night of January 31, bringing one or two spells of light rain on February 1.

Meanwhile, Delhi-NCR’s air quality slipped into the poor category, with an AQI of 265 at 8 am on Thursday, while several monitoring stations recorded very poor levels above 300. The minimum temperature in the capital is expected to drop by about 5-6 degrees Celsius, while the maximum temperature today is likely to be around 18 degrees Celsius.

Delhi Weather Forecast

January 29-30: Temperatures will range between 17-21  degree celsius (max) and 06-09  degree celsius (min). Skies will be partly cloudy to generally cloudy, with moderate fog at many places and dense fog at isolated locations during morning hours. Winds will be light to moderate, mainly westerly to northwesterly (5-15 kmph).

January 31-February 1: Maximum temperatures around 19-21  degree celsius and minimums between 06-13  degree celsius are expected. Skies will remain generally cloudy, with light easterly to northeasterly winds (up to 10 kmph). Shallow to moderate fog may occur during morning hours.

February 2: Day temperatures will be around 17-19  degree celsius with minimums of 12-14  degree celsius. Skies will be partly cloudy, likely turning generally cloudy by afternoon or evening, with a possibility of very light rain accompanied by thunderstorm, lightning, and gusty winds reaching 30-40 kmph during night.

February 3: Maximum temperatures near 18-20 degree celsius and minimums around 11-13  degree celsius are likely. The sky will be generally cloudy, with shallow to moderate fog during morning hours and light to moderate northwesterly winds (5-10 kmph).

Delhi AQI Today

Delhi’s air quality showed marginal improvement on Thursday morning, with the overall Air Quality Index (AQI) standing at 270, still in the ‘poor’ category. The slight relief is being attributed to rainfall earlier this month, which helped suppress dust and pollutants.

Of the 29 monitoring stations, five recorded ‘moderate’ air quality and 16 reported ‘poor’ levels, while 17 stations continued to remain in the ‘very poor’ category, highlighting persistent pollution concerns. Areas including Jahangirpuri, Rohini, Sonia Vihar, Anand Vihar and Wazirpur reported very poor air quality, whereas Lodhi Road, Mandir Marg, NSIT Dwarka and Aya Nagar showed relatively better conditions.
